I · The House
Clark-Aurelius is a media company born from the belief that the past deserves to live again — not as relic, but as living testimony to what human hands once made.
As a restoration house, we work with film archives, sound recordings, photographic collections, and documentary materials to return forgotten works to their original glory — and sometimes, to rediscover what was never fully seen.
Named for Marcus Aurelius, the philosopher-emperor who believed that every action carries weight across time, we approach each project with discipline, precision, and deep reverence for the original creator's intention.
Never waste what remains of your life in thoughts about other men, when you are not thinking with reference to some form of the common good. It cuts you off from the other work.
II · Our Craft
The art and the craft — five disciplines of restoration
Frame-by-frame digital restoration of deteriorated film stock — from silent-era nitrate to mid-century celluloid. Grain reduction, splice repair, flicker stabilization, and full-resolution 4K output.
Spectral noise reduction and harmonic reconstruction of historical recordings. We recover the original signal buried beneath decades of degradation.
Faithful color reconstruction guided by original production notes, period reference materials, and painstaking frame analysis.
Long-term digital and physical preservation protocols meeting FIAF and Library of Congress standards. Your work, protected for the next century.
Format migration and precision digitization from obsolete carriers — 8mm, 16mm, U-matic, Betamax, DAT, lacquer discs — to current and future-proof archival formats.
Every note, every frame, remastered.
All for you.
III · Featured Works
Complete restoration of an Italian silent drama recovered from severely degraded nitrate stock. 3,200 frames reconstructed by hand.
Reconstruction of live Vienna concert hall recordings, recovering three lost orchestral performances from lacquer disc originals.
Frame-by-frame restoration of WWII-era documentary footage for a national film archive. 74 minutes fully restored from 16mm originals.
IV · Foundations
The Stoic principles that guide every decision we make
Discipline
Every restoration begins with absolute mastery of craft. No shortcuts. No approximations. The work demands our full and undivided attention, frame by frame.
Reverence
We treat every original work as sacred. Our role is not to improve upon the past, but to honour what the past created — to let the original voice speak again.
Truth
Authenticity above all. We restore to the closest possible approximation of the original artist's intent, guided by evidence rather than interpretation.
V · Begin
Whether you hold a reel of deteriorated 8mm film or a collection of century-old recordings — we want to hear your story. Every project begins with a conversation.
